A drowning took place on Tuesday morning around 8:30am near Dabs Ford bridge in the Prairie Plains community of Coffee County.
Coffee County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene along with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, AEDC personnel and the Coffee County Rescue Squad.
Coffee County resident 35 year-old Dustin Buckner apparently went fishing with other family members around 5 am Wednesday morning.
Coffee County Chief Investigator Billy Butler and Sergeant Laura Nettles told On Target News that Buckner was allegedly attempting to retrieve a fishing lure that had become entangled in the water. While attempting to retrieve the lure, Buckner fell into the water and he also became entangled in fishing line. The Coffee County Rescue Squad recovered Buckner’s body from the water.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department is in charge of the investigation and Buckner’s body will be sent for an autopsy.
