Duck River Watershed Society’s 2022 Inaugural Event Success

The Duck River Watershed Society held its inaugural event on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Normandy Lake.  The DRWS is a new non-profit organization that focuses on building sustainability, awareness, and support for the Duck River Watershed.

The Spring Clean-up event drew over 50 community volunteers with the focus of collecting garbage and refuse that has collected at the Winter low water line and surrounding properties.  This was a collaborative effort that included the Tennessee Duck River Development Agency, Coffee County Rural Solid Waste, TVA, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

In all, volunteers collected over 3,000 pounds of refuse, by boat, pick-up truck, and four-wheeler that partners and volunteers brought to help with the effort.
