Strong pitching allowed an early lead to hold up for 10th ranked Lincoln County as the Falcons topped no. 7 Tullahoma 2-1 Monday night in the series opener at Grider Stadium.
Lincoln County scored their only runs of the game in the top of the first on a two RBI double from catcher Charlie Stubblefield.
That proved to be enough as Parker Webb allowed just one Tullahoma run and two hits while striking out three in six and two-thirds innings of work to grab the win.
The Wildcats had the tying or go ahead run on the base path several times though out the night including loading the bases in the 6th but couldn’t get the timely hit needed to tie or take the lead.
Evan Tomlin took the loss despite holding the Falcons to just two runs and four hits while striking out six.
The loss drops Tullahoma to 8-4 on the year and 2-1 in 8-A play. Lincoln County improved to 9-8 overall and 2-1 in the district.
The Wildcats and Falcons are scheduled to conclude their series tonight in Fayetteville at 6:30.
The next Tullahoma baseball broadcast on 93.9 The Duck is set for next Tuesday April 12th at 6:20 p.m. when the Wildcats host Page.
