Fire in Manchester

This time of year, with lots of cooking going on also brings on the threat of kitchen fires. Manchester Fire & Rescue responded to a cooking fire in a residential home Tuesday night around 9 p.m.
Firemen arrived on the scene a short time later and found a cooking fire in the kitchen. The occupant removed the burning pan to the outside of the home prior to the department’s arrival.
The occupant suffered from smoke inhalation and some possible burns and was transported to Unity Medical Center by Coffee County EMS. Crews secured all appliances, turned off breakers to the affected area and ventilated the home. The area was deemed fire safe with damage limited to the kitchen area and some minor smoke in the home. As always great assistance was provided by Coffee County, EMS, Communication Center and Manchester Police.
Please be careful while cooking this holiday season.
