Franklin County Upsets Coffee County in Baseball District Tournament

On Wednesday night, the Franklin County Rebels pulled off the upset in the District 6 Class 4-A Tournament in Winchester. The Rebels got past the regular season champion, Coffee County Red Raiders, 8-6.

Jacob Hardison pitched Franklin County to victory. The right-hander surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Josiah Cullins threw two innings in relief.

Carter McKenzie took the loss for Coffee County. McKenzie lasted three innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out three.

McKenzie helped the Red Raider’s offense when he hit a solo homer in the second inning. Cole Pippenger went 2-for-4 for the Red Raiders.

The Rebels collected 11 hits, led by Sam Vincent with three.

Coffee County will play Warren County in a loser’s bracket game in Winchester on Thursday afternoon at 4:30. Rooster 101.5 will be on the air at 4:20 PM for the broadcast. You can also hear the game at www.rooster1015.com or the Rooster 101.5 app.

Franklin County will take on Shelbyville at 7 PM in the winner’s bracket. On Wednesday, the Golden Eagles defeated Warren County 3-2 in 10 innings.
