Gov. Bill Lee has signed two pieces of legislation that critics say target the LGBTQ community into law.
The first relates to transgender hormone treatments and surgeries for minors. It completely prohibits anyone from providing those treatments to a minor. This law goes into effect on July 1, 2023.
The other relates to “adult cabaret performances.” The law makes it a misdemeanor first-time offense and a felony second offense to hold a drag show on public property or in a location where the performance could be viewed by a minor. This new law begins on April 1, 2023.
