Luther Hayes was hired by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department as a Corrections Officer on May 22 and was fired and arrested on June 2.
Hayes (age 44) was charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility, driving while in possession of methamphetamines, possession of a controlled substance, and because he came into work with a firearm while the substance was on his person, he was also charged with possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony.
