Lady Cats Down Jets In OT to Advance to Region Semis

The Tullahoma Lady Wildcats came out on top of a heavyweight battle with Cumberland County in the quarterfinals of the Region 4-3A tournament Friday Night at Tullahoma High School.  

The Lady Cats came out hot scoring the game’s first 7 points before Cumberland County made a run of their own to tie the game at 13. From there it was a game of punch, counter punch as the team’s clawed in a thight physical matchup. Tullahoma edged ahead at the half (27-24) and end of the third (37-34). Cumberland County took a 2-point lead midway through the fourth, but Tullahoma rallied and tied the game at 43 after Lilly Melton was intentionally fouled after a steal. The Lady Cats had several looks at a potential game winner late in regulation, but their final try was just off at the horn and overtime was needed to decide who advanced.  

Tullahoma took the early lead in the extra time and was able to force Cumberland County into having to foul to extend the game. The Lady Cats were able to seal the game at the line and pull out a 55-49 win.  

Lilly Melton led the Lady Cats with 20 Points, McLayne Bobo added 18.  

The victory, their first in the region tournament since 2020 advances them into the 4-3A semifinals where they will face Upperman, who topped Page Friday 56-38, Monday at 8:30 at Tennessee Tech’s Hooper Eblen Center in Cookeville. You can hear all the action LIVE 93.9 The Duck

Will Rabb

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
