The Coffee County Lady Raider bats got red hot in the second inning on Friday night when they scored twelve runs and defeated Warren County 12-0 in four innings.
Jalyn Moran homered to start the inning and later was hit by a pitch to get another RBI. The Lady Raiders would continue scoring as Chesnie Cox doubled, singled, and knocked in four runs in the inning. Willow Carden had two hits and an RBI in the second, and she finished the game with three hits after a double in the first inning.
Kaitlyn Davis pitched a perfect three innings and was credited with the win. Freshman Lily Norman gave up only one hit in the fourth.
Coffee County will play for the District 6AAAA championship at 5:30 PM on Wednesday at Terry Floyd Field, and the if necessary, game would follow. They’ll play the winner of Tuesday’s Shelbyville at Warren County game.
The district baseball tournament game between Coffee County and Franklin County was postponed until Saturday at noon. The winner will take on Shelbyville immediately following. This will be game one of a possible two for the championship. If it goes to game two, it will be played on Sunday at 3 PM. All baseball tournament games are being played at the Gamble Sports Complex in Winchester.
