The Coffee County Lady Raiders traveled Tuesday night to take on Warren County in District 6-4A softball
In the top of the third the Lady Raiders took a 2-0 lead only to see the Lady Pioneers tie the game in the bottom half of the inning.
Both teams went scoreless until the top of the seventh. Kaitlyn Davis doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring Chesnie Cox. Kara Wheeler who was running for Davis scored later in the inning to give Coffee County a 4-2 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh Warren County’s Shelby Roberts reached on an error and Madison Hollis singled to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs. Coffee County 2B Emily Schuster made a great defensive play as she caught a hard-hit ball and quickly threw the ball to first for a double play. Pitcher Kaitlyn Davis struck out Marli McBride to end the game. Davis was named the Sir Pizza Player of the Game.
Coffee County improved to 7-6 overall and 2-0 in district play and will host district foe Franklin County on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Terry Floyd Field. You can hear the action on The Rooster 101.5 FM, rooster1015.com or The Rooster 101.5 app.
Olivia Evans and Cox collected two hits each for the Lady Raiders.
The Lady Pioneers were led on offense by Shelby Roberts who had 3 hits. Warren County dropped to 1-1 on District 6-4A.
The Coffee County baseball game against Shelbyville was rained out on Tuesday. They’ll try again on Thursday at Powers Field in Manchester.
