Local Teacher Nominated for Special Honor

The Ponce Law Firm in Nashville believes that when teachers go above and beyond to watch over and help the children in their care learn and grow, they deserve to be recognized.
On May 5 the firm will announce the winners of their favorite teacher contest. Your favorite teacher could win up to $500!
One educator in our coverage area has been nominated. New Union Elementary first grade teacher, Nikki Alonso.
Schools have been closed since March 16 in Coffee County, but Ms Alonso has not stopped teaching her students. She has been providing lessons online in various forms. She has also prepared packets for her students to complete at home along with multiple online resources. Plus, each night, Monday- Friday she reads a bedtime story in full costume to go with the story.
Voting is taking place until April 30. Cast your vote for your favorite teacher at https://teachers.poncelaw.com/.
Ms Alonso gave On Target News a statement about teaching during the Covid-19 outbreak. “️I feel very fortunate and blessed to be a teacher especially in Coffee County. I have no doubt teachers all over the world are doing everything they can to continue teaching. In addition to continuing their education I hope to spread smiles and laughter during this scary time for so many.
We have the most amazing teachers in Coffee County Schools, Manchester City and Tullahoma City. Teachers, Parents, and community members have all come together and worked incredibly hard to support our children. Makes me so proud of our communities.”
