Local Teacher Wins Award

The Ponce Law Firm in Nashville believes that when teachers go above and beyond to watch over and help the children in their care learn and grow, they deserve to be recognized.

In April, the law firm took nominations and votes for their Outstanding Teacher Award.

1st – Julie Potter, Dickson Middle School: $500

2nd – Nikki Alonso, 1st grade teacher at New Union Elementary: $500

Schools have been closed since March 16 in Coffee County, but first grade teacher, Nikki Alonso of New Union Elementary has not stopped teaching her students. She has been providing lessons online in various forms. She has also prepared packets for her students to complete at home along with multiple online resources. Plus, each night, Monday- Friday she reads a bedtime story in full costume to go with the story.
