McWhorter Named Tennessean Softball Coach of the Year

Back in May the Coffee County Lady Raiders’ softball team completed their best fish in the TSSAA state softball tournament when they finished runner-up.

Many players have received post-season honors, but now head coach Brandon McWhorter has picked up a nice accolade as he was selected as the Tennessean Newspaper Coach of the Year. McWhorter led the Coffee County softballers to 34-7-1 record for the 2021 season.

McWhorter is back at the helm for his 5^th year. The Lady Raiders next summer scrimmage is July 15 in Smyrna beginning 5pm.

He is currently the play-by-play voice of the Coffee County Red Raiders (31 years) on The Rooster 101.5 and can be heard M-F broadcasting our local news. Lucky has done play-by-play for 3,993 (and counting) sports events on Radio & TV. He also served four years as the Public Information Officer for the Coffee Co. Sheriff's Dept. and taught Radio/TV for six years at Grundy County High School.
