Two missing children from Kentucky were found safe in Grundy County on Sunday after being taken from their non-custodial mom days ago.
According to WRCB-TV, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office (KY), said the two children — ages eight and five — were taken by their non-custodial mom, 31-year-old Ellen Maples, on September 10. Due to Maples’ mental health and history of abuse and neglect, the children were considered to be in danger.
Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum says that authorities located Maples and the children in the county by pinging a phone on Sunday.
Grundy County deputies and Monteagle police officers stopped the van Maples was driving.
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office said Maples resisted arrested and had to be tased multiple times. She was taken into custody and booked at the Grundy County Jail.
The children were found uninjured in the van. Kentucky social workers will take them back to Kentucky.
