Several days in the last couple of months have seen record high temperatures. Monday was not one of those days, as the high was 28 degrees lower than last Monday (67-95).
Many of us suffered over 20 consecutive days of temps over 90 degrees, but the worst part was the lack of rain. Monday’s rain of 0.67 helped slightly.
From August 1, 2019, through October 6, Coffee County only received a total of 4.91 inches of rain. August had the most precipitation with 4.54 inches, which was not much, but then things got really dry. In September the area received 0.32 and as of Sunday night, in the first 6 days of October, we received only 0.05.
As for the temperatures, Staff Meteorologist Tim Root says that low temps are expected to be in the 30’s Saturday and Sunday nights in Coffee County and surrounding areas.
