Moore County and Huntland games canceled due to COVID-19

Another pair of week two high school football games have fallen victim to the latest surge of COVID-19. 

Moore County’s trip to Bledsoe County has been cancled due to COVID-19 issues within the Warriors program. The game is not set to be made up and the Raiders do not plan to seek an alternate opponent for Friday. 

Their region rival Huntland is also with out a game for Friday after Whitwell was forced to cancel their scheduled meeting with the Hornets due to Covid issues within the Tiger program. Huntland is working to find a new opponent for Friday. 

As of Tuesday night 14 games across the state have been have been cancled due to COVID-19: 

Galitan-Blackman 

Smyrna-Rockvale 

Bledsoe Co-Moore County 

Whitwell-Huntland

Franklin County-Whitwell 

Ooltewah-Red Bank 

Hixson-Notre Dame 

Megis County-Kings Academy 

East Hickman-Camden

Jackon County-York Institue 

Daniel Boone-West Ridge 

Rhea County-Elizabethton 

Lake County-Obion County 

Warren County-White County 

Oibion County has agreed to a replacement game at Camden

Per TSSAA guidelines Schools must first try to make up canceled games. If they can’t, the opposing team will receive a win for seeding purposes. The forfeiting team will not receive a loss. In football, if the visiting team this year forfeits due to COVID it will serve as the visiting team again with the opposing school next year.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
