A two-hundred yard rushing performance by Moore County Junior RB Tyler Smith, including three touchdowns of 40-, 84-, and a final 4-yard run, led the way for the Raiders on a cold, wet, rainy night in Cedar Hill, Tennessee, as Moore County defeated host Jo Byrnes High School’s Red Raiders 34-7.
A combined eight turnovers on the soggy turf, including six fumbles, was not enough to slow down Smith, who also had a big night on defense, as the Raiders improved to 3-4 overall, but still 0-2 in region 5A play, while the Red Devils dropped to 1-7 on the season.
Next up for the Raiders is a three-game Region 5 schedule, beginning with arch-rival Huntland next Friday in Lynchburg, which will decide the Raiders’ playoff fate.
