The awards continue to roll in for a trio of area softball players and a local coach as well.
Coffee County’s Keri Munn and Kiya Ferrell and Huntland’s Ashtyn Danley were named to the Main Street Preps All Mid State Team Monday. Munn and Ferrell’s coach Brandon McWhorter was named the coach of the year as well by Main Street Preps.
Munn, an MTSU signee, earned first team honors after posting a 27-4 record in the circle with a 0.81 ERA and 268 strikeouts in 2021. Munn’s battery mate Ferrell, who returns for her Senior season in 2022, was named to the third team after pacing the Lady Raider offense with a .473 batting average and a team best 47 runs scored. Under the guidance of Coach McWhorter Munn and Ferrell helped guide the Coffee County softball team to a program best runner up finish in Class AAA in 2021.
Danley was also named to the All-Mid State First Team after being equally dominate both at the plate and in the circle. She hit .693 with 61 hits 41 RBI and 38 runs scored in 2021. All this while holding a .97 era in the circle and striking out 168 to lead Huntland to a third place finish in the Class A state Tournament.
