On March 17th, the McMinnville Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint operation throughout the county and within the city limits. The purpose of the operation was to check businesses to ensure they are following Tennessee law regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages. The current law requires a person to be 21 years of age or older to purchase any alcoholic beverage.
An underage operative was used to enter a total of 37 businesses. At the conclusion of the operation, nine businesses were sighted for selling to a person under the age of 21. Of those nine businesses, three were within the city limits of McMinnville and six in the county.
The nine offending businesses were as follows: Hometown Market at 306 Beersheba St., Mystic Market 1002 Old Shelbyville Highway, Hinas Market 2615 Nashville Highway, JR Market 4765 West Green Hill Rd., Four Lane Market 3932 Sparta Highway, Green Hills Market 10497 Smithville Highway, Morrison Market 10012 Manchester Highway, Morrison Marathon 7853 Manchester Highway, Quick Stop 7824 Manchester Highway.
McMinnville Police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office want to ensure the public that they remain committed to ensuring the safety of our youth and will continue with these types of operations in the future. They also want to thank and commend the local businesses that do follow the Tennessee law.
