The Westwood Rockets took to the football field on Thursday night seeking perfection in the form of a Duck River Valley Championship against Fayettevile. The Rockets would dig a hole for themselves in the first half, allowing 3 touchdown passes by the Tiger offense and trailing 20-8 at halftime. On the first play of the third quarter, the Rockets Jayden Carter broke loose for a 50 yard touchdown run and Westwood would never look back from that point. Reeling off 26 unanswered points in the third quarter with another 16 yard by Carter for a touchdown, a safety by the Rockets special teams and a 32 yard scamper by Skylar Stinson for a touchdown, the Rockets would win the championship and culminate a perfect 8-0 season for Coach Chad Dyer’s team. Jayden Carter was selected as the MVP of the game.
