A move is underway to change the “Rebels” mascot of Franklin County High School, according to Franklin County resident Shanae Williams. Williams has more than 1,400 signatures on her petition. A counter-petition is reported to have been started by Save The Rebel Mascot, and it is believed to have some 700 signees.
Director of Franklin County Schools Stanley Bean told Nashville’s News4 WSMV-TV that the ultimate decision will rest with the School Board of Education at a future meeting.
