Pitching Duel goes in favor of Coffee County

In District 8-AAA baseball action Wednesday night both Coffee County and Franklin County got excellent pitching, but the Red Raiders were just slightly better in the 2-1 final.

Coffee County scored their first run in the bottom of the first when Griffin Meeker crossed the plate on a Franklin County error.

Jacob Holder went six and a third innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 11. Braden Brown threw two-thirds of an inning in relief to earn the save for the Raiders. Holder was named the Crazy Daises Player of the Game.

Despite his strong performance, Gattis Henley took the loss for Franklin County. The hurler went five and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five.

Brady Nugent helped to lead Coffee County’s offense with a two for two night. Hayden Hullett added a hit and an RBI.

With the win the Raiders are now 8-4 overall and 4-2 in district play. Coffee County play at Grundy County at 5pm on Friday.
