Early Friday morning, tragedy struck several residents of Manchester. Manchester Mayor Joey Hobbs stated that a catastrophic fire at Carden Estates Apartments resulted in the total loss of 36 housing units.
The displaced families (approximately 72 individuals) were bussed to the Manchester/Coffee County Conference Center.
The Dusty Elam Foundation delivered toiletries, and Hardee's fed them breakfast. The Red Cross, local clergy, Good Samaritan, and All God's Children were notified to help coordinate available resources, showcasing the unity of our community in times of need.
Mayor Hobbs stated, “I would like to close by thanking the Manchester Fire Department for its heroic efforts in sustaining the fire and helping the families affected.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Manchester fire officials.
