ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, Tenn. — High school students will have the opportunity to explore engineering careers as Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) hosts National Engineers Week from Feb. 18-20. The event, revived last year after a three-year hiatus, features hands-on experiences and mentorship opportunities. The week kicks off Feb. 18 with a Student Design Competition at the University of Tennessee Space Institute, where high school seniors will design and test projects under time constraints. On Feb. 19, the Engineer-For-A-Day program will allow students to shadow engineers at AEDC. The event concludes Feb. 20 with an Engineers Week Banquet featuring retired Air Force engineer Mark Mehalic as the guest speaker. Event organizer Paul Kelly hopes to see increased student participation this year. Tickets for the banquet are $30 for adults and $10 for students.
