BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn. — Bedford County Clerk Donna Thomas is warning residents about a scam involving callers posing as her and requesting bank account information.
In a social media post, Thomas stated that her office will never ask for financial information over the phone unless the call is initiated by the resident. She urged the public to remain cautious and avoid sharing sensitive details over the phone.
"If you receive a call from any Bedford County office that asks for bank account information, hang up and call that office directly to protect yourself from possible fraud," Thomas advised.
Authorities encourage residents to report suspicious calls and remain vigilant against potential scams.
