Cats and Rockets Split Tuesday Hardwood Tilts

Tullahoma basketball was back home Tuesday night splitting a pair of games with Rockvale in a double header you heard on 93.9 The Duck. 


In the girls game Rockvale’s offense ignited in the third quarter outscoring the Lady Cats 20-8. Despite battling foul trouble Tullahoma would trim the deficit backdown to single digits but could not pull off the comeback falling, for the second straight game, 50-41. 


Aubrey North the Lady Cats with 13 points and was named the Owens Provisons and Apparel player of the game. Mclayne Bobo also finished in double figures talling 12 points. Freshman Lizzy Shapton turned in another solid performance off the bench recording 6 points. 


Cayden Thomas led a trio of Rockvale players scoring in double figures with 15, Amaya Nash added 12 and Jade Watson finished with 10. 


Tullahoma is now 6-2 on the season while Rockvale improved to 4-3. 


The boys contest was a back a fourth thriller with neither team able to build a lead larger than 5-7 points before the other would counter to close the gap or take a lead of their own. 


The Wildcats fell behind 5-0 early before close the remainder of the first quarter on a 23-15 run, led by 14 in the period from Xavier Ferrell. Rockvale answered back winning the second quarter 21-17 to lead 41-40 at the half and the third 14-12 to hold a three point edge heading into the final frame.  Despite Ferrell fouling out the Tullahoma made timely baskets and forced several key Rockvale turnover to double up the Rockets 15-7 in the fourth and grab a 67-62 win. 


Ferrell paced Tullahoma with a game high 33 and earned Owens Provisions and Apparel Player of the game honors. Jayden Thompson turned in another strong performance adding in 15 points and Alex Bobo, Alex Miller and Sam Bobo each made timely plays recording 5 points each. 


Kaleb Lewis led Rockvale with 13 Points, Ty Newton added 12 and Alijah France tallied 11. 


The Wildcats  improve to 7-1 on the season while the Rockets fall to 2-5. 


Rockvale host Ensworth Thursday with the double header set for 5:00. 


Tullahoma continues the homestand Friday vs former district rival Lincoln County. Coverage on 93.9 The Duck begins at 5:45 and is presented by Hogan’s Collision Center.
