City of Tullahoma Votes to Settle Lawsuit by Former Employee

After a $5 million federal lawsuit was filed by former city of Tullahoma Human Resources Director Casta Brice, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen recently approved a request from Mayor Ray Knowis to offer a settlement. The amount of the settlement offer is not known. Public Entity Partners will handle negotiations.

According to the Tullahoma News, Brice’s lawyer, Justin Gilbert, claims in the lawsuit in a timeline starting in 2020, that Brice was subject to retaliation from Alderman Kurt Glick during his time as Director of the Parks and Recreation department and ended with her being placed on administrative leave in February 2023.

Brice stayed on leave until City Administrator Jason Quick issued a letter to her on Sept. 29, stating that the position of Human Resources Director would be eliminated, effectively ending her employment with the city.

The motion was then put to a vote, with Alderman Derick Mann making the motion and Berry seconding. The motion passed four to one, with Wilson voting no. Aldermen Kurt Glick and Jenna Amacher were not present.
