Coffee County Opened Strong But Fall to Mount Juliet in First-Round Playoff Duel

Coffee County saw its 2024 season come to an end Friday night in the first round of the Class 6A State Playoffs with a 22-10 loss to Mount Juliet at Roger Perry Field. Jayden Carter fired the opening salvo, scoring the first and only touchdown of the game with a 21-yard run to give the Red Raiders the lead in the first quarter. The Red Raiders (5-5, 2-3) were in seamless sync; however, the Golden Bears responded with a safety and two touchdowns in the first half to head into halftime on top. Coffee County came out strong in the second half, but Mount Juliet would end the game with one more insurance touchdown.


Offensively for Coffee County, Jayden Carter rushed for an incredible 57 yards on 12 carries and notched the Red Raider's lone touchdown. Deonte Short tacked on 52 yards on 13 carries. Kaysen Lowery recorded 18 yards on three carries, and Caiden Martin registered ten rushing yards on eight carries. Senior wide receiver Torin Vanzandbergen snagged a 15-yard reception on a crucial Red Raider drive. Coffee County ends their season 2-3 in region play and 5-6 overall, in addition to clinching a playoff birth after defeating Blackman 19-14 on Senior Night.
