Alderman Justin Stubblefield officially resigned from the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in the City of Decherd on August 1. The board accepted his resignation letter. He stated he would no longer be living in Decherd. The alderman was arrested last month.
At the request of 12th Judicial District Attorney General Courtney Lynch and, the Drug Task Force began investigating the overdose deaths of William Horton and Miles Kincaid, which occurred in Franklin County on April 21, 2022.
On July 9, 2024, DTF agents arrested Stubblefield and his wife, Paige, with one count of conspiracy to distribute oxycodone, a Schedule II controlled substance. He was also charged with one count of money laundering based on the financial transactions that occurred during the distribution of oxycodone.
The investigation into the overdose deaths of Horton and Kinkaid will continue with the goal of charging those responsible for their deaths with second-degree murder.
