Decherd Teenager is listed as Runaway for Second Time This Month

Nathan Gautschi ran away from his home in Decherd earlier this month and was later located by the Decherd Police Department. Nathan was returned to his custodial grandfather. Shortly after, Nathan left again and did not return. It is believed Nathan is hiding out with friends and being harbored by these individuals.

Decherd Police warns that it is a criminal offense to harbor or hide a runaway child.

A person commits an offense who, with knowledge that a child is a runaway, as defined in Tennessee law § 37-1-102(b)(32)(D), harbors or hides the child and:

1: Fails to notify the child's legal custodian, legal guardian, or law enforcement authorities of the whereabouts of the child within a reasonable amount of time, provided that no length of time in excess of twenty-four (24) hours shall be considered reasonable.

2: Conceals the whereabouts of the child; or

3: Aides the child in escaping from the custody of the child's legal custodian, legal guardian, or law enforcement authorities.
