Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny has released information on the vehicle pursuit that began in Warren County, continued through Van Buren County, Sequatchie County, and ended in White County, where Brian Lee Hale of Rock Island, Tennessee, was taken into custody by Warren County deputies.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Warren County E-911 dispatch notified Warren County deputies that the McMinnville Police Department was requesting assistance in the pursuit of a small, blue SUV that was traveling at a high rate of speed on Beersheba Highway, and the driver was suspected to be driving under the influence.
Warren County deputies joined in the pursuit, where the vehicle was observed traveling over 100 MPH, driving on the wrong side of the road, and seriously endangering the lives of others. Deputies from Van Buren, Sequatchie, and White Counties were notified of the pursuit, and they assisted our officers in the pursuit and ultimate arrest of Hale.
Upon taking Hale into custody, he was exhibiting signs of intoxication. Also, multiple baggies with residue were found inside his vehicle. Hale has been charged with Driving Under the Influence, Felony Evading Arrest, Reckless Endangerment with a Deadly Weapon, Reckless Driving, Driving on a Revoked Driver's License, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. At the time of this release, he remains in custody at the Warren County Jail with an arraignment date in the General Sessions Court set for 8:30 a.m. on September 17, 2024.
Sheriff Matheny wants to commend his officers, along with the officers from each of the other counties, for their ability to communicate and coordinate a plan to get Mr. Hale off our roads without injuring anyone. While Sheriff Matheny believes law enforcement pursuits can be dangerous, there are times when they are necessary to ensure the safety of others.
