Fourth-seeded Nolensville played stingy defense and fast offense to beat No. 2 seed Shelbyville, 62-30, in the Region 5-4A Tournament on Thursday night at Rick Insell Gymnasium.
From the opening tip, Nolensville took control, launching an offensive blitz that left Shelbyville trailing 17-2 after the first quarter. The Golden Eagles tried to respond in the second, but the Knights kept the momentum rolling, stretching their lead to 29-11 at halftime.
Shelbyville came out of the locker room with renewed energy, but Nolensville turned up the pressure once again, widening the gap to 43-21 by the end of the third. The Golden Eagles fought hard to hold their ground in the final frame, but the Knights slammed the door shut, sealing a dominant 62-30 win.
Tae’Shawn Shelton led Shelbyville with eight points, while Jevon Lee added six. Idris Grey came through in key moments, tallying four points and earning Watson Metals Player of the Game.
With the loss, Shelbyville wraps up the season at 14-14 overall and 7-3 in District play.
