Halloween Safety Alert: AAA Warns of Increased Risks for Children, Urges Precautions for Parents, Trick-or-Treaters, and Drivers

Halloween is one of the most dangerous nights of the year for children, according to AAA. The organization highlighted several ways parents, trick-or-treaters, and drivers can enjoy Halloween safely. For parents, pin a piece of paper with your child’s name, address, and phone number inside their pocket in case you get separated, make sure costumes are visible with reflective material, and plan and discuss your trick-or-treating route. For trick-or-treaters,carry a flashlight, stay on sidewalks and when sidewalks aren’t present, walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic. For drivers, be alert for trick-or-treaters and other pedestrians, slow down in neighborhoods, drive at least 5 mph below the posted speed limit and if you see a drunk driver, call police.
