On 8/13/24, Deputy Tylar Prosser and his K-9 partner, Ranger, conducted a traffic stop in Shelbyville. While questioning the occupants, Deputy Prosser’s suspicions were raised, and K9 Deputy Ranger performed an open-air sniff around the vehicle.
After K-9 Ranger alerted on the vehicle, a search was conducted, which resulted in approximately 200 blue pills believed to contain fentanyl being recovered from the vehicle along with a stolen firearm and a small amount of methamphetamine.
This traffic stop resulted in a search warrant being obtained and executed by the 17th Judicial Drug Task Force. This search warrant resulted in the discovery of approximately 800 more blue pills, also believed to contain fentanyl, being confiscated along with an AK-47-style carbine.
The Sheriff's Department stated, "These are the same types of pills that are responsible for many of the overdoses and deaths that have destroyed so many families in our community. Thankfully, this traffic stop led to over 1,000 pills being removed from the streets.
No names of those arrested were released.
