Trailing 10-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Tullahoma Lady Cats rallied for four runs

and beat the Siegel Lady Stars 11-10 Tuesday night in Tullahoma. The non-district win was the

ninth consecutive victory for the Lady Cats.

With the wind blowing out towards the outfield, the teams combined to hit five home runs,

including three by Siegel. But Tullahoma’s home run king answered. Madi Goad slammed a pair of two-run blasts, one a towering shot in the third inning and the other a line drive in the sixth, enabling the Lady Cats to stay within striking distance.

The Lady Cats fought an uphill battle the entire contest, trailing 1-0 after one and 5-4 after three innings. Siegel led 7-5 after five innings, then 10-7 in the seventh after Tullahoma tied it at seven with two runs in the sixth.

Kaitlynn Gattis was the hero for the Lady Cats, belting a line drive base hit with the bases

loaded and two outs in the seventh to drive in the winning run. Brinley Gilliam started the inning by reaching on an error, and Aleigha Raby singled. Pinch-hitter Maya Johnson hit a clutch single, driving in both Gilliam and Brinley to cut the Siegel lead to 10-9. Kylee Holt coaxed a base on balls, and Siegel intentionally walked Goad to load the bases,

setting the stage for Gattis’ game-winning hit.

Amaya Sharp (9-2) went the distance and picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Cats.

Sharp scattered a dozen hits with three strikeouts and three walks.

Tullahoma banged out 14 hits, including three by Goad and Gattis.

Tullahoma (10-5, 4-1) will return to District 8-AAA play this afternoon when they travel down

Highway 41A for a 5:30 p.m. contest at Franklin County. Hear the game live on 93.9 The Duck, at 939theduck.com, and on the free Duck app on Android and iOS.
