At the March 4, 2025 Manchester City Board of Mayor and Alderman Meeting, the Board discussed the upcoming Coffee County Commission vote on a 180 Day moratorium on major subdivision plat reviews.

During new business portion of the meeting, aldermen discussed the proposed moratorium informally and Manchester Mayor Joey Hobbs proposed that the city send a letter to the county stating the city’s position. A formal vote was not taken but a letter was drafted by city attorney Craig Johnson stating that the city board “feels that the proposed changes impede on fundamental rights of property owners in our county and only favor the sentiments of a low percentage of county citizens.”

The letter goes on to state that “the board urges the members of the Coffee County Commission to vote NO on these proposed changes.

The letter was sent to the Coffee County Mayor Dennis Hunt and the County Commissioners.
