Brady Wright scored 16 points, Jayden Carter added nine, and Coffee County survived an unexpected test from Franklin County to beat the Rebels 47-39 in Winchester, TN, Friday night.
The game started with both teams trading baskets in the opening quarter, with the Red Raiders edging out a narrow 13-11 lead. But it was the second quarter where Coffee County found their groove. A strong offensive push and lockdown defense gave them an 11-point advantage heading into halftime.
Franklin County came out swinging in the second half, chipping away at the lead and knocking on the door in the third quarter. However, the Red Raiders held their ground, maintaining a 36-28 advantage heading into the final stretch. When the Rebels threatened late, Coffee County turned up the intensity, pulling away in the closing moments to seal a well-earned 47-39 win.
Brady Wright served as the catalyst for the Red Raiders, leading the way with 16 points. David Lewis chipped in eight, while Jayden Carter came up big in crucial moments, sinking nine points and earning Dr. James Van Winkle Player of the Game. Coffee County will return to action on Friday, Dec. 20, as they host Grace Christian Academy, with tip-off set for 6 P.M.
