On September 5, 2024, Officers with the Decherd Police Department received a call about a possible scam.
The scammers posing as agents with the Department of Homeland Security on Facebook stated that if you filled out the information in the link they sent you for their grant, you would receive $150,000. They continued by saying they would need $1,000 to have it shipped by FedEx.
The Decherd Police Department advises citizens who receive these types of calls to hang up immediately; they are scams.
