A special evening of art and awareness, Art Across the Spectrum, is set for Friday, April 11th, presented by The Capri Theatre, The Center for Family Development, and The Fly Arts Center in Shelbyville. The event aims to foster a deeper understanding of autism and neurodivergence while celebrating the talents of local artists.
Festivities begin at 4 PM with a screening of The Unbreakable Boy at The Capri Theatre. Attendees who purchase tickets to the film will receive exclusive access to a VIP art exhibition reception at The Fly Arts Center at 6 PM. This exhibition will showcase artwork created by neurodivergent artists from Bedford County, offering a powerful and personal perspective on their experiences.
Organizers are currently accepting art submissions from local neurodivergent artists of all ages. All forms of artwork—including paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, and other handmade creations—are welcome. Artists must self-identify as being on the autism spectrum or having another neurodivergent condition, such as ADHD or dyslexia. Both preexisting and newly created pieces can be submitted for display.
The submission deadline is March 30, 2025. Artists interested in participating can visit FlyArtsCenter.com for more details.
