TN Lawmaker Aims to Slash Grocery Costs with Bill to Eliminate 4% Sales Tax

A Tennessee lawmaker is reintroducing a bill that could lower grocery prices in the state by removing taxes. Representative Aftyn Behn wants to get rid of the 4% sales tax on groceries. Behn stated that projected savings would be around $400 per family, per year. In 2023, the average grocery taxes paid per family in Tennessee was $1,100.
