FRANKLIN COUNTY, TN — A traffic stop conducted earlier today by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Winchester Police Department resulted in the recovery of two stolen trailers and the arrest of a suspect.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the stop took place on Highway 64 Business near the roundabout. Authorities pulled over a vehicle matching the description of one linked to the theft of a trailer stolen from a local business on March 3, 2025.

The driver, identified as Gary Dupree Sr., admitted that the trailer he was towing was stolen but claimed he was unsure of its origin. Investigators seized the trailer and Dupree’s 1993 GMC Sonoma pickup truck, which was used in the commission of the alleged felony. His cell phone was also confiscated as part of the investigation.

During the investigation, deputies were able to recover the stolen trailer linked to the March 3 theft. Authorities are now working to identify the owner of the second trailer.

Dupree was arrested and charged with Theft of Property valued between $2,500 and $10,000.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have had a trailer stolen from the Huntland area to contact Investigator Chuck Stines at 931-307-1850.
