Tullahoma, TN – In an effort to promote sustainability and reduce landfill waste, the Tennessee Environmental Council (TEC) is hosting a Recycling Roundup Event on Saturday, March 1, at Waggoner Park from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Residents can drop off hard-to-recycle items such as tires, mattresses, Styrofoam, scrap metal, electronics, and more—all free of charge. The event is part of TEC’s broader mission to reduce litter and illegal dumping while encouraging responsible recycling practices.

Funded by an EPA environmental justice grant and TDOT funding, the event is open to all surrounding residents, though businesses are not allowed to participate. While the service is free, donations are appreciated to help sustain future events.

Items Accepted at the Event:

Mattresses & Box Springs (Limit: 2 per household, $10 fee beyond the limit)

Tires (Limit: 8 per household, $1 fee beyond the limit)

Electronics, Scrap Metal, Batteries

Glass Bottles, Paper for Shredding, Cardboard

Clothing, Shoes, & Textiles

Medications (No liquids or sharps), Pet & Medical Supplies

To ensure smooth operations, the event has a capacity limit of 40 mattresses and 500 tires, and items will be accepted only until space runs out.
