Tullahoma Wildcat senior pitcher Baylan Tuten pitched a complete-game no-hitter, allowing only two second-inning walks and shutting out the Franklin County Rebels 4-0 in the District 8AAA opener for both teams at the Gamble Sports Complex in Winchester Monday.

The Wildcats (1-0, 8-6) have won eight consecutive games. Franklin County (0-1, 5-6) will travel down Highway 41A to Grider Stadium on Tuesday at 6 p.m. to complete the district series. Hear it LIVE on 93.9 The Duck and watch on the LightTube Sports Network.

Tuten was untouchable. He temporarily lost the plate in the second, although both walks came on 3-2 counts. He quickly regained his form and got stronger as the game went on.

Tuten (2-2) has now tossed two consecutive no-hitters, and Tullahoma as a team has pitched five no-hitters in the last seven games. Tuten has two, Ben Quick and Hunter Hogan have combined to pitch two, and Xander Pogue no-hit Marion County Saturday morning.

Hogan got the Wildcat offense started in the top of the first against Rebel ace Sam Vincent (3-1), reaching on the first of three errors committed by the home team. Tuten followed with a single, sending Hogan to third. Tuten then stole second, his team-high 14th stolen base of the season.

Andrew Fulmer, who leads the Wildcats with 17 runs batted in, drove in Hogan and Tuten with a single to right field, staking Tuten to an early lead. It was all he would need. Tullahoma added two insurance runs in the sixth.

J.D. Schmisseur coaxed a one-out walk and Andrew Zebick singled. Both runners advanced on another Rebel mistake before Hogan drove them in with a two-out, two-run single to complete the scoring.

The defending Class 3A state champions are ranked #4 in the state by the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.
