The Tullahoma basketball teams improved to 2-0 in district play with a sweep of Murfreesboro Central Magnet at home Friday night.

In the girls game the Tullahoma defense helped spark the offense as the Lady Cats jumped out to a 17-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Tigers trimmed Tullahoma’s lead to eight a pair of times in the fourth quarter but the Lady Cats held off the comeback to pick up the win. McLayne Bobo, who made several timely fourth quarter shots led Tullahoma with 16 points while freshman Lizzy Sharpton added 11. Sharpton who helped get the offense going with a big first quarter three was named the Owens Provisions and Apparel Player of the Game. Madison Stanley paced Central Magnet with 11 Points.
The Victory improves Tullahoma to 10-9 overall and 2-0 in district 8-3A. Murfreesboro Central Magnet dropped to 4-15 overall and 0-2 in the district.
Wildcats 77 Murfreesboro Central Magnet 42
In their first game as a ranked team Tullahoma showed why they earned that distinction. Three Wildcats finished the double figures and Tullahoma emptied the bench in a 35 point romp of their district foe. Xavier Farrell led Tullahoma with 19 points. Austin Tinnon added 16 and Khani Johnson tallied 11 including a highlight reel dunk. Tinnon was named the Owens Provisions and Apparel Player of the Game. Kason Puffer and Carter Sage led the Tigers with 13 apiece.
With the win the Wildcats are now 17-2 on the season and 2-0 in 8-3A play. Central Magnet drops to 5-15 overall and 0-2 in 8-3A play.
Tullahoma heads to Fayetteville tomorrow afternoon (2:00 & 3:30) to face Lincoln County in the final non district games of the season. These games were rescheduled due to snow last Friday. The next broadcast on 93.9 The Duck is set for Tuesday at 5:45 when Tullahoma returns home to host Lawrence County.
