Tuten Tosses No-Hitter, Cats Win Third Straight

Peterson Media Group

Tullahoma senior pitcher Baylen Tuten pitched a complete-game no-hitter, setting down 21 of

the 22 batters he faced with 15 strikeouts and allowing just a single walk to lead the defending

Class 3A state baseball champion Tullahoma Wildcats to a solid 6-0 win over the Columbia

Lions Monday night at Grider Stadium. Tuten was named the Owens Provisions and Apparel

Player of the Game.

Tullahoma (3-6) has won three consecutive games by a combined score of 24-1. The Wildcats

will continue their week-long home stand today hosting the Brighton High School Cardinals at

6:30 pm at Grider Stadium. Pregame begins at 6:15 on 93.9 The Duck. Spring Hill visits on

Thursday, Marion County comes to Grider on Friday, and the Wildcats will host a doubleheader on Saturday.

Tuten was overpowering, crafty, and unhittable as he sat down Lion after Lion, many on called

third strikes. The one walk was a four-pitch walk, the only mistake Tuten had all night. He made

an excellent play on a weak grounder in the infield, walked, stole a base, and scored a run.

Senior third baseman Mason Bratcher, who will pitch for the Wildcats today, went 3-3 and

scored two runs. Bryson Campbell had a hit, a stolen base, and scored two runs. Hunter Hoganwent 2-2 with two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Tullahoma scored one in the first when Bratcher singled with two outs and came around from

first to score on Philip Lemon’s RBI double. That’s all Tuten needed. The Cats plated two runs in

the fourth inning when Columbia pitcher Brandon Moore got rattled after Bratcher singled.

Campbell reached on an error and Moore threw multiple wild pitches, allowing the Cats to take a 3-0 lead.

The Cats got on the scoreboard again in the fifth. Hogan walked and stole second. With one

out, Tuten walked and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Andrew Fulmer drove in Hogan

with a sacrifice fly, then Tuten scored on another wild pitch to give Tullahoma a 5-0 lead after

five.

In the sixth inning, Cambell singled and stole second. Hogan drove in Campbell with a two-out

single, stole second, and scored on a passed ball to end the scoring.
