On Tuesday, June 25 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Bedford County deputies were dispatched to the area of Normandy Rd. and Hwy. 41A South in reference to a gunshot victim in a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a teenage female victim with a gunshot wound to the head.
19 year-old Selena Southerland was a passenger in the vehicle during an apparent road rage incident that occurred on Normandy Rd. while the vehicle was traveling towards Hwy. 41A.
Other passengers described the suspect vehicle as a small white SUV, possibly a Saturn or similar body style, occupied by a white male.
Southerland was treated on scene by Bedford EMS before being flown from the scene by helicopter to a Nashville hospital. There is no update on her condition at this time.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene toward Normandy on Normandy Rd. The man is still at large, and investigators and deputies are currently working to develop leads.
