It was not a easy night for the Lady Raiders of Coffee County as they trailed Lincoln County 10-3 after 1st quarter and 29-28 after 3.
Coach Joe Pat Cope turned to Chole Gannon and Bella Vinson down the stretch after the team struggled from the outside most of the game to get the 45-39 District 8-AAA win.
Vinson was held scoreless for a longtime because of the triple team defense from the Lady Falcons but was big at the free-throw line late in the game to finish with 10 points. 6 of her 10 came at the line in the fourth.
Gannon got her inside game going to also finish with 10 and earn the Crazy Daisies Player of the Game honors.
Coffee County ranked #2 according to MaxPreps and #7 by AP remains unbeaten in district play and 16-1 overall.
In boy’s action Coffee County jumped to 14-8 lead after the first and never trailed after the end of quarter the rest of the night to get an important 64-49 district win on Friday night in Fayetteville.
Coach Micah Williams got balanced scoring led by Trenton Scrivnor with 14 off the bench to earn the player of the game for the Raiders. Kyle Farless had a solid night with 12, Jaxson Vaughn added 10 and C.J. Anthony chipped in with 9 and Connor Shemwell with 8.
