Raiders Sweep the Pioneers on Tuesday Night

The Coffee Lady Raiders led 14-4 in the first half on Tuesday at home against Warren County. The Lady Pioneers roared back with a 13-2 run to grab a 1-point lead at 17-16. The two teams battle back and forth until halftime with Coffee County holding a slim 2-point advantage, 24-22 at the break.

The AP 5th ranked team in Class 4-A Lady Raiders came out of the dressing room fired up for the 2nd half as they dominated Warren County by holding them to only 15 points in the final 2 quarters. Coffee County pulled away for their 19th win (19-3/5-0) of the season 62-37 over the Lady Pioneers.

Rooster 101.5 and Sir Pizza “Player of the Game” Chloe Gannon got rolling in the final half as she led her team with 16. Jalie Ruehling had 12, Channah Gannon added 11 and Senior Elli Chumley scored 10 on the night.

In boys play the Red Raiders held a slim 3-point lead at halftime, 24-21 over Warren County. Coffee County was able to use their strong defensive play in the 2nd half to beat the Pioneers 50-38.

Dayne Crosslin led the Raiders in scoring with 17, followed closely by Connor Shemwell’s 16. With his offensive output and strong rebounding, Shemwell was named the Sir Pizza Rooster 101.5 “Player of the Game.”

Coffee County improved to 14-7 overall and 4-1 in District 6 4-A. Their district record puts the Raiders 1st place by themselves.

Both Coffee County teams will travel to Shelbyville on Friday night for district games. Airtime is 5:50 p.m. on The Rooster 101.5 FM.
