The defending class AAA champion Ravenwood Raptors netted three first half goals to top Franklin County 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2021 girls state soccer tournament Wednesday afternoon at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga.
Ravenwood struck first in the eighth minute on a corner kick from Sarah Rath which was headed in by Leah Johnson for the 1-0 lead. They doubled their lead in the eleventh minute as Rath converted a Penalty kick to make it 2-0 Raptors. The lead grew to 3-0 in the 20th minute as Rath netted her second goal of the half.
Franklin County got on the board via a Kara McDaniel penalty kick in the 30th minute to cut the Ravenwood lead to 3-1 and that score would hold going into the half.
The Raptors limited Franklin County to just two shots on goal in the second half and both Rebelettes chances were just off the mark. One high by Libby Vincent high in the 50th minute and one wide left by Ella Masters in the 62nd minute as Ravenwood held on for the 3-1 victory.
Franklin County concludes their season 13-3-2.
