Red Raider Baseball Opens Season by Beating Cookeville

The Coffee County Red Raiders’ baseball team opened their 2023 season by defeating Cookeville 5-1 on Tuesday at Powers Field.

Aiden Robertson had a big game for the Raiders as the righthander surrendered only one run on five hits over six innings of work. Robertson struck out 11 and had no walks. Robertson was also 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Coffee County in hits.

Third baseman Jacob Holder had a double and knocked in 3 runs in the win.

The Red Raider defense was outstanding, as they did not commit an error in the game.

Rooster 101.5 will begin its Coffee County Spring Sports Showcase, presented by Dr. James VanWinkle on Wednesday as the Lady Raiders open their softball season at home against Eagleville. Airtime is 5:45 pm, with the first pitch set for 6 pm.
